Scope of Helicopter Landing Officer Training:
This course is designed to teach personnel the
responsibilities of the Helicopter Landing Officer. Helicopters
play a major role in the offshore environment. Without the
knowledge of some of the hazards, helicopter operations
could be deadly.
Helicopter Landing Officer Course Objective:
At the completion of the course, a student trainee should
be able to:
- Describe the duties of a Helicopter Landing Officer
- Discuss offshore heliport design
- Name some of the safety considerations
- Identify helicopter models used in the offshore environment
- Understand the importance of proper baggage/freight loading
- Communicate with all parties involved with the helicopter operations
- Determine safe operating conditions using meteorology
- Explain the safety precautions associated with refueling
- Discuss different types of fire fighting procedures
